The nursing assistant provides basic patient care under the direction of the nursing staff. They assist with activities of daily living, serve as a channel between patients, nurses, and doctors, and record and communicate all issues to medical staff. They promptly react to calls from patients needing assistance or treatment and alert the medical staff to any imminent emergency situations.  

The home health aide assists clients who cannot care for themselves or perform activities of daily living. They may also perform basic medical services such as monitoring and checking vital signs. Based on individual client needs, they may provide long-term care or intermittent care.  

The direct care professional is responsible for an array of duties related to the inclusive care of individuals with developmental disabilities. This includes implementing individual plans, behavioral plans and direct care of program individuals. Direct care professionals are required to perform all duties in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
